The worldwide corona virus pandemic of 2020 has lead to the decrees of no social gathering and maintaining social distance to avoid spreading this highly contagious disease that is killing many (If your reading this in the future look it up on whatever search engine exists..probably Google).
This has caused a decision to postpone the Hash Bash until fall. But we are still going to celebrate the traditional first Saturday in April digitally by broadcasting live over Facebook.
The Hash Bash will feature many of “the usual suspects,” that include many speakers known to attend the annual rally over many years that goes back to 1972.
Saturday’s digital Hash Bash event is being hosted by Lowell, vice president of The Botanical Co., and the Planet Green Trees crew, including attorney Michael Komorn, Jim Powers, Debra Young, Amanda Joslin and Rick Thompson.
The speakers list includes Tommy Chong of Tommy Chongs Cannabis, Cannabis Breeder DJ Short, High Times editor Danny Danko, former Detroit Red Wings player Darren McCarty, Michigan cannabis attorney Matt Abel, state Sen. Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, state Rep. Yousef Rabhi, D-Ann Arbor, and many others. Most will join live via Skype while some submitted pre-recorded messages.
After over two and a half hours of the virtual rally, the broadcast is expected to transition to featuring music and more, including comedian Krissi Kinney and some special guests.
The 2020 Hash Bash was broadcast on 4/4/20 over the internet due to the 2019 - 2020 worldwide pandemic caused by the coronavirus which caused the US and other countries to shutdown and in Michigan ban gatherings of more than 10 people which eventually lead to a decree by Govenor Whitmer in Michigan to enact a broader ban on gatherings of any number of people, traveling, as well as banning stores of selling paint or garden furniture or plant. Because everyone ordered to lock down staying at home should not be allowed to work on their home at a time like this. This eventually lead to a planned protest.

This is year #49 for Hash Bash and the mass gathering in the diag at the University of Michigan was canceled due to a worldwide pandemic outbreak of the Covid19 Virus.
